Live It!
Kilchurn Castle stands on a low plateau of rock. At one time the waters of Loch Awe were higher, creating an island of the castle’s location. It’s one of the most photographed castles in Scotland and it’s easy to see why. Now in the care of the Historic Scotland, the only access to the 15th century castle is by boat in summer. However you can enjoy a view of it all year round.
Add Kilchurn to your itinerary if you’re in any of the towns and villages close to Loch Awe, such as Oban and Kintyre. The Ardanaiseig Hotel is an ideal base from which to view Loch Awe and Kilchurn Castle. Use the links to the left to find out more.
