It’s easy to fill a city break with a whirl of sightseeing, shopping and entertainment. Cities like Edinburgh also have plenty to keep you active right outside their front door. Rivers to raft, mountains to bike, beaches to stroll, all within an hour of the city. It’ll broaden your view of all a city break can be!

Live It!

Get active, even on a city break. Just an hour north of Edinburgh you can try your hand at white-water rafting on the River Tay. The sands at Yellowcraigs, just one of many beaches edging Edinburgh, are a wide, open breath of fresh air. Top mountain bike centres, like Glentress near Peebles, can be reached in no time at all. And you’ve still got all Edinburgh’s bars, restaurants and nightlife to enjoy at the end of each day.

The links to the left will show you just how easy it is to get to Edinburgh, whether by road, rail or air. You’ll also find what activities you can try in and around Scotland’s cities, as well as the best beaches and coastal villages to explore. And the list of Edinburgh’s top clubs and bars will keep your evenings as lively as your days.
